Information that was on Website from Burke County from Spring 2008

 

  • Deadline: All submissions are due 3/31 by 5:00 p.m.
  • Format: Films need to be submitted on CD/DVD at the highest quality possible in one of the following formats: mov, wmv, avi or swf.  Movies should not exceed 3 minutes (this includes all intros and credits).
  • Application:  Application and release forms must be completed for film to be considered.
  • Content: Content of films should be age appropriate and adhere to BCPS Student Conduct Codes and Technology Acceptable Use Policies for Students (websites should be here).
  • Submitted films must be written, filmed, and edited by either:
    • INDIVIDUAL(S) (A registered student(s) of BCPS)  or GROUP (A class or group submission sponsored by a BCPS employee.)
    • BCPS Student can submit a maximum of 1 INDIVIDUAL film and BCPS GROUPS can submit a maximum of 1 GROUP film.
  • COPYRIGHT: Copyright laws must be observed.  Copyright and Fair Use Guidelines must be followed (please check with your media coordinator if you have any questions).
  • Artist will retain copyright , however BCPS retains all rights to change format, use video for advertising of the film festival, and other non-commercial uses. 
  • Finalists may be called in for an interview.  All submissions are subject to screening for following of rules set forth above before submission to judging.
  • Categories: SciFi, Animation/Claymation, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Musical, Current Events
  • Levels: Elementary, Middle, High
  • Films are to be created entirely by students. That means written, filmed, and edited completely by students.
  • Screening for entered films will be online this year prior to the festival. Films will be available online beginning on March 1, 2008 (or anytime after that date as we receive entries). Information release forms for each student involved must be submitted as part of the film's entry.
  • In order to be considered for the podcast category, students must have at least 5 published episodes. Students may only select one episode for consideration. Newscasts will be considered as podcasts, but must adhere to the 5 minute time limit.
  • The time limit for all films/podcasts is 5 minutes, except for the PSA category which is 1 minute.
  • Films need to be submitted on DV Tape or on CD/DVD as QuickTime movies at the highest quality possible.
  • Contest winners will be announced at the Talent Show.  Winners will be recognized and receive awards during the closest Board Meeting.
